Anya Deepak
National Leadership Team Member
Lavanya (Anya) Deepak is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience at the intersection of behavior change and social impact. Holding a Master’s in Business Administration from India, with a specialization in Marketing and Organizational Development, Anya has dedicated her career to addressing two of the biggest systemic challenges of our time: climate change and racial equity.
Anya’s journey began with transformative projects in rural India, including initiatives focused on healthy cook stoves, microfinancing for women, and postnatal care programs. These experiences underscored the fact that women’s lives and livelihoods are inextricably linked to their environment. As the former President of the Women’s Environmental Network, a local nonprofit, Anya championed career development and mentorship for women in the environmental sector.
Currently, Anya serves as the Senior Racial Equity Coordinator at the City of San Francisco’s Environment Department. From the villages of India to San Francisco’s neighborhoods, Anya believes that women are the first defenders of our future. She feels that enabling mothers to organize with and around their children can pave the way for a more resilient community and a more sustainable future for all.
