Growing Power, Building Community: Mothers Out Front Training for Trainers Retreat in Nashville

In May, Mothers Out Front hosted an inspiring in-person training retreat called “Training for Trainers.” Member leaders and staff gathered in Nashville, TN, for four days of learning, connection, and community building. The retreat was designed to educate and empower our member leaders, providing them with the tools to organize impactful campaigns, manage teams, foster fellowship, and inspire action in their local communities.

The retreat took place at the beautiful Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, where we dedicated three intensive days to training focused on:

    • Learning to organize and build campaigns around an issue

    • Embracing the roles of leader, trainer, and facilitator

    • Engaging in interactive games and activities to reinforce concepts

    • Receiving guidance from facilitators at The Arc of Change

    • Crafting our personal stories to connect with others

Gina Carey, a dedicated member-leader and attendee, expressed, “I truly loved the Training for Trainers program. The content pushed the boundaries of my perception of leadership and what I’m capable of achieving as a volunteer and organizer, and I appreciated the investment Mothers Out Front made in our skill-building as a group. I left the training feeling capable and connected to an amazing community.”

For many of us, this was our first opportunity to meet in person. The experience was powerful, bringing together moms from across the country who are united by a commitment to climate action and a desire to create change in their communities. We left with an even stronger sense of purpose, a clearer vision, and a robust network of moms ready to take action.

We returned to our chapters and communities with renewed energy, new tools, and a strong sense of connection. Together, we are stronger, and together, we are growing our movement of moms and making a lasting impact.
