Introduction
Mothers Out Front (“MOF,” “we,” “us” or “our”) prioritizes protecting Users’ (“your” or “you”) privacy. This privacy policy explains how we use, disclose, process, and protect your personal information (as defined below) that is collected through our website (https://www.mothersoutfront.org) and any other websites or platforms we own and/or operate that link to this Privacy Policy (“Sites”) or through e-mail, postal mail, or in person. Our policy is to respect and protect the personal information of all users as if it were ours. In order to do that, MOF agrees to exercise reasonable precautions to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information provided by you in connection with accessing and using our Sites.
By accessing or using these Sites, you (“User”) signify that you have read, understand, and agree to be bound by the Terms of Use contained in this Terms of Use & Privacy Policy (the “Agreement”).

Personal Information You Provide to Us: This is information you explicitly share with Mothers Out Front. It includes, but is not limited to, the following categories:
- Contact Information. Your name, email address, phone number(s), postal address, communications preferences, etc.
- Donation Information. Name, payment information, billing address, profession, donation, etc. Third-party service providers will be utilized to process donations on behalf of MOF.
- Demographic Information. Age, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, etc.
- Inquiry and Communications Information. Information provided in custom messages sent through web forms on our Sites, in chat messages, Slack messages, to a MOF email address, via phone, via storybank collection, etc.
- Marketing Emails and Blog Information. Email addresses, applicable interests, and communications preferences.
- Information Provided to us through Your Use of the Service. Files, documents, videos, images, data, and other information you choose to upload or send through communications with MOF or our Sites or is created as a part of a MOF training or workshop (“User Content”).
- Events, Surveys, and Promotions. Any information shared in event registration, surveys, or promotions.
- Job Application Information. Personal information submitted in connection with a job application, including your name, contact information, and job history.
- Other Personal Information. Any information you explicitly provide us online, by phone, via mail, or in person.

- Other Mothers Out Front Organizations. We may receive personal information from other Mothers Out Front affiliates and entities.
- Other Individuals Who Interact with Us. We may receive your contact information from other individuals we are in relationship with. For example, a member leader may share your information as someone who would be interested in starting a team or donating.
- Social Media. When an individual engages with us on social media, we may receive information from the platform about you. The information we receive is dependent on the platform and your privacy settings on the platform.
- Service Providers. We may receive information about you from service providers and consultants, such as payment providers, marketers, or survey providers.
- Community Partners. We may receive information about you from community and movement partners who work with us to offer trainings or collaborate with us on campaign work or events.
- Other Sources. We may also receive your information through third-party providers including consultants, partners, data providers, marketing partners, mergers, or acquisitions.
Personal Information We Automatically Collect: When you visit our website, receive our emails, engage with our social media content or digital ads, we typically receive information about your engagement through tracking technologies, including but not limited to cookies, pixels, and web beacons. This information may include:
- Information about the computer, tablet, smartphone, or other device you use. How and Why We Use Your Information
MOF staff, vendors, or volunteers may contact you by email, postal mail, phone, SMS text message, and other electronic means. MOF will never sell your personal information. We may share your personal information with the following groups (“Affiliated Groups”):
- Mothers Out Front’s partners or affiliate organizations.
- Movement partners with aligned values who we are partnering with on campaigns.
- Vendors who provide services or business functions on our behalf. These business functions include, but are not limited to, printing, mailings, text, email, and fundraising.
- Staff, volunteer member leaders, and other affiliated third parties who have signed privacy agreements and agree to protect your personal information and only use it for Mothers Out Front related purposes.
Additionally, we will use your information for the following purposes:
- Advocacy and Organizing: Advocacy and organizing are two strategies we use to advance our mission. Your information may be used in educational or advocacy campaigns that include, but are not limited to, petitions, surveys, sending emails via the Mothers Out Front database, and phone and text campaigns. See below for possible scenarios of how your information may be used.
- Mothers Out Front Membership
When you provide us with your personal information, you become a member (“Member”) of Mothers Out Front. Once you become a Member of Mothers Out Front, you consent to receive emails and phone calls from Mothers Out Front staff, volunteers, and affiliates unless you opt-out of these communications. When you provide your email address to MOF, it will be added to our database and subscribed to our email list(s). If at any time you wish to stop receiving email communications from MOF or from MOF via our database service provider, please select opt-out on forms or click the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of all of our emails. If you have opted to receive text messages, Mothers Out Front staff, volunteers, and affiliates may also contact you via text message. You may also receive recurring text messages from Mothers Out Front through an automatic telephone dialing system. Mothers Out Front does not have a shared mobile consent policy, meaning you are opting in to receive phone calls and text messages from Mothers Out Front, not from any other party. Members can opt-out of these communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link, text “unsubscribe,” or emailing us at privacy@mothersoutfront.org.
- Petitions and Surveys
When you sign a petition or complete a survey, you are consenting to MOF publicly sharing your name, title, city, state, and comments, with legislators, government officials, other decision makers, or the press. Mothers Out Front will never disclose your street address, phone number, email address, or other personal contact information publicly without your permission.
- Emails, Letters, and Phone Calls to Decision Makers
When Members use Mothers Out Front’s platforms to send individual emails, letters, or faxes to decision makers, make phone calls to those decision makers, or send letters to the editor of media outlets, the recipients of those messages may have access to contact information you share including your name, email address, phone number, and address. As a Member, you are solely responsible for the information you send through these platforms.
- Fundraising: Mothers Out Front relies on the generous donations of Members and other supporters to finance our operations. We use donor information to process and acknowledge donations; keep donors informed about our work, impact, and upcoming opportunities to support our mission, and comply with legal and tax requirements. As a donor, you have the right to request a copy of your personal information on file, update or correct your personal information, opt out of certain communications, or request anonymity for your donation. We may recognize donors in our publications and reports or on our website. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please notify us at the time of your donation or contact us at privacy@mothersoutfront.org.
- Outreach and Research: In order to educate our Members and support our mission, we may share information about issues that are of concern or of importance to Mothers Out Front. To facilitate these communications, we may use your personal information to contact you through Mothers Out Front platforms or communications channels.
- Advertising: We may use your personal information to develop both digital and traditional advertising. In order to design and distribute these ads, we may work with third-party advertising partners and networks. These parties may collect information directly from your device or browsers when you visit our Sites or engage with our advertising content.
- When Required by Law, to Prevent Fraud, and Protect Our Rights or Others’ Rights: As a nonprofit organization, Mothers Out Front is required to provide donation reports to governmental entities in order to fulfill legal obligations. We also may need to use your personal information to prevent fraud or protect our rights or the rights of others.

Non-personal information and data may be automatically collected through our Sites through the use of cookies, small text files stored on your device hard drives. Cookies are used to recognize repeat visitors and track user behavior. We use cookies to improve your online experience with our Sites. If you do not want us to use cookies when you visit our Sites, please use your browser to disable cookies on our site.
We also use Google Analytics to monitor and collect information about the use of our Sites. Google does not provide us with any personal identifying information, only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit these Sites. Google Analytics does plant a permanent cookie, that can only be used by Google, on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit a site. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. Security of Personal Information
We take reasonable administrative, physical and electronic security measures to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of your Personal Information. No transmission of data over the internet or text message is guaranteed to be completely secure. It may be possible for third parties not under our control to intercept or access these transmissions or private communications unlawfully. While we strive to protect your Personal Information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Storage and Retention of Personal Information
Mothers Out Front is controlled and operated in the United States. We do not operate services outside of the United States and do not intentionally monitor the behavior of any person outside of the United States. All of our information is stored and processed on servers in the United States. Any user in the European Union or other countries should be aware that their data will be transferred to the United States, and the European Commission has found United States law does not adequately protect the rights of data subjects. Additionally, Mothers Out Front will retain the information collected, until an individual asks us to remove their information.
Use of Website by Minors
Our Website is not directed to individuals under the age of 16, and we request that these individuals do not provide Personal Information through the Website.
We do not knowingly, directly, or passively, collect information from children under the age of 16. To respect the privacy of children and to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, children under the age of 16 should not provide any Personal Information on this Website. We ask that parents supervise their children while online.
Updates to this Privacy Policy
MOF has the right to change, modify, add, or delete portions of this Agreement at any time. If we do this, we will post the changes on this page and indicate the date these terms were last revised. If you do not agree to abide by these or any future terms, do not use or access (or continue to use or access) our Sites.
