MA: Healthy Soils: Legislating Native Plants
Date: May 23, 2022
Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm ET
Location: zoom , Massachusetts
Climate change and the biodiversity crisis are intertwined. What role do native plants play in the solution?
Come hear Renee Scott of Green & Open Somerville talk about the importance of native plants — and how her organization succeeded in getting Somerville to pass the first-of-its-kind native plant ordinance in March of 2021, requiring that native species be planted on city-owned land. And they haven’t stopped with the ordinance, but are advocating for corridors of native plant gardens, connecting both municipal and private lands.
