Demand from the General Assembly to invest in Electric School buses and phase out diesel.
Replacing one diesel bus can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 54,000 pounds each year.
The air quality inside a diesel bus is 5x worse than outside the bus. Replacing a diesel bus with an electric bus significantly improves air quality for students inside the bus and for the communities the school serve.
Today, climate change is heating our world. Carbon Dioxide emissions from vehicles like school buses can help climate change. If we don’t do something about this problem, it can escalate fast. So, we can face climate change head-on by converting to electric, we are one step closer to eradicating Carbon Dioxide emissions.
Electric buses are not as expensive as they are said to be. Each bus can save up to $2,200 in fuel and $4,000 in maintenance costs in one year. If the bus is used for 11 years, the average life span of a bus, the electric school bus costs about $60,000 more than a diesel bus. That price prevents 395,000 to 650,000 pounds of Carbon Dioxide being emitted. We can help prevent climate change.
