Your record as an advocate for women & children is laudable. That’s why, this Mother’s Day, I urge you to speak up for setback limits around toxic oil & gas drilling, which disproportionately impacts women, children & BIPOC communities. 12 other oil-producing states (even Texas!) have mandated setback limits. CA must, too. A 2500’ health & safety buffer is vital to protect women’s, children’s and prenatal health, since studies have found that living near drilling leads to worse birth outcomes. The fact that hundreds of thousands of CA children live, study & play less than ½ a mile from toxic drilling is a moral outrage. Will you use your voice & platform to advocate for setbacks to protect women, children & BIPOC communities? Thank you!
